My Metaphor of Life

Updated: Dec 10, 2020

I wrote a short metaphoric passage that's helped me through tough times.

fe is like a Merry-Go-Round. Each time it goes around that represents one year of life. Through one go around there is a point that you feel sick. This sickness represents the turmoil in your life during that go around. At that time, it feels like you’ll never be able to escape the feeling. It consumes every ounce of your body, you are constantly thinking, “I want this Merry-Go-Round to stop. I want to get off, I can’t do this anymore.” I find this ironic in the sense that people feel this way about life. We hear constantly people saying they want to give up on whatever it is they are doing or going through. However, the feeling of excitement and rush that pours through your body after one has finished the ride (aka accomplished their dreams) is truly unexplainable, at least this is what I hear because I'm still on my ride. So don’t give up. The end of the Merry-Go-Round represents when your life has reached the peak, you have accomplished your goals through the turmoil and have beat this little thing called life.

"So don’t give up."

Typically, there are people on the ride with you. Some you may know and some you may not. There are people who will ride with you while you are feeling sick, and there are people who will move to another seat whether you are sick or excited for your ride. On Merry-Go-Round’s you choose where you sit, so why would you want to be near people who won’t care for you? Your ride is not fast, you have the ability to move to another seat, there should be no excuse to surround yourself around people who won’t care or celebrate with you.

"Your ride is not fast.."

Merry-Go-Rounds have lights, colors, and music playing in the distance. This is your ride, you choose the lights, the colors, and the music. Again, this is your ride, no one else’s. Surround yourself with people you know who will ride with you when you hit the sickness and who will celebrate with you when you are excited about YOUR ride.

I hope this passage will help you realize to not give up on your ambitions and to surround yourself with people who love and care about you.
